Job Summary

The Relationship Officer Supervisor – Group Lending will supervise Relationship Officers and lead the group lending team in delivering financial services, including savings, insurance, and loans. The position is responsible for portfolio growth, loan quality, client monitoring, staff coaching, compliance, reporting, and market expansion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Team Management

  • Supervise and monitor the daily activities of Relationship Officers.
  • Lead and supervise the group lending team.
  • Coach, encourage, mentor, and evaluate Relationship Officers.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate staff training.
  • Identify emerging talent for career development.
  • Participate in recruitment and onboarding of Relationship Officers.

2. Monitoring & Portfolio Management

  • Monitor Relationship Officer performance on a daily basis.
  • Visit and verify newly formed groups and clients before approval.
  • Conduct field visits to groups and clients.
  • Follow up with existing clients according to monitoring schedules.
  • Monitor savings, insurance, and loan performance.
  • Maintain strong portfolio quality through proactive risk management.
  • Ensure 100% on-time loan collection and enforce zero tolerance for missed payments.
  • Verify information concerning defaults, business activities, and other client issues.
  • Take corrective action where performance or implementation deviates from required standards.

3. Loan & Credit Operations

  • Support and oversee loan disbursement in accordance with VisionFund procedures.
  • Ensure loan documentation is complete and accurate before submission to the Credit Hub.
  • Monitor loan disbursement, portfolio growth, portfolio quality, and client numbers.
  • Support Relationship Officers in building a pipeline of potential borrowers.

4. Business Development & Coordination

  • Work with Business Center and Regional Managers to develop market expansion and penetration strategies.
  • Identify new business opportunities, products, and areas for expansion.
  • Develop scaling-up plans covering locations, staffing, budgets, and projections.
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Liaise with IT to establish technology and platforms required for loan processing and monitoring.
  • Support management in developing business and product expansion proposals.

5. Reporting & Analytics

  • Ensure accurate loan reporting in the core banking system.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports and analytics.
  • Share reports with relevant stakeholders.
  • Take remedial action based on performance analysis.

6. Market Surveys & Social Impact

  • Coordinate and support impact surveys.
  • Collect and share lessons learned with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to achieving social-impact targets, including the number of children and women reached and geographical coverage.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A University Degree or Diploma in:
    • Economics
    • Rural Development
    • Agricultural Finance
    • Accounting

    • Business Administration
    • Or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in sales and credit management.
  • At least 1 year of experience training and coaching teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks governing banking practices.
  • Strong knowledge of lending practices and financial products and services.
  • Strong communication, people-management, marketing, and analytical skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective Christian leadership and lead daily devotions.
