Job Purpose
The Legal Officer will provide basic and standard legal advice to internal stakeholders, interpret and implement business instructions using approved templates, review legal documentation, and support the Legal team in mitigating legal and business risks.
The role also involves conducting appropriate due diligence and ensuring legal documentation complies with approved processes and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice throughout the contract lifecycle, including:
- Template standardisation
- Legal review
- Drafting
- Negotiation
- Execution
- Renewal
- Prepare and manage commercial agreements, including:
- Commercial contracts
- Lease agreements
- Vendor contracts
- Review legal documentation and provide input in collaboration with other Legal team members.
- Conduct due diligence to identify and mitigate legal and business risks.
- Support implementation of approved legal processes and policies.
- Provide training to Business Units on:
- Legal documentation
- Legal developments
- Legal issues affecting the business
- Assist with structuring, negotiating and drafting legal agreements.
- Maintain appropriate legal records and documentation.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in Legal.
- Proven experience providing basic legal advice.
- Experience within the legal and/or financial services sector is preferred.
- Good understanding of relevant banking products and services.
- Experience in structuring, negotiating and drafting legal agreements and documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
This position is best suited to an experienced legal professional with 5–7 years of experience, preferably gained within banking, financial services or a related commercial environment.
