Role Purpose

The M-Pesa Payment Products Specialist will support the delivery of M-Pesa’s strategic payment collection projects in the transportation sector by assisting with planning, coordination and execution activities.

The Specialist will ensure that assigned tasks are completed on time, within budget, and according to defined scope and quality standards, under the guidance of the Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, governance and acceptance criteria in alignment with business goals.
• Contribute to detailed project plans, resource tracking and budget monitoring.
• Support communication between M-Pesa, clients and partners, ensuring that updates and documentation are shared effectively.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of assigned tasks.
• Monitor project activities, escalate risks and issues, and propose improvements.
• Ensure that project deliverables meet defined standards and compliance requirements.

Key Qualifications, Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, Information Technology or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience managing large-scale public service or revenue collection projects.
• Experience in the transportation sector, including air, water, rail, buses or related areas.
• Solid understanding of project management methodologies.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and supporting contract administration.
• Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
• Familiarity with payment systems and automated fare collection.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
