Job Purpose
The Credit Analyst-1 will support credit risk management within VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank (VFT-MFB), including identifying emerging credit risks, preparing regulatory and management reports, supporting mortgage documentation, strengthening the credit risk appetite, and ensuring compliance with relevant credit reporting requirements.
Major Responsibilities
1. Identify and Report Current and Emerging Credit Risk – 30%
- Facilitate the identification and reporting of current and emerging credit risks within VFT-MFB.
- Prepare summaries of monthly and quarterly credit reports by branch, product, and cycle.
- Review risks associated with new products and projects.
- Prepare credit risk trends for branches, products, and projects.
- Recommend and support implementation of risk mitigation measures.
- Support initiatives aimed at reducing losses.
- Contribute to improved profitability.
2. Preparation of Mortgage Documents – 15%
- Compile all recommended documents required for mortgage processing.
- Prepare mortgage documentation after the loan approval process.
- Ensure appropriate risk avoidance measures are maintained.
- Support loss reduction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
3. Assist With Enhancement of VFT-MFB Credit Risk Appetite – 25%
- Effectively communicate and implement Risk Management Findings (RMF) within VFT.
- Determine the need for more thorough investigations of poorly performing products and projects.
- Promote risk awareness across the organization.
- Support better working relationships among relevant teams.
- Contribute to the reduction of credit-related losses.
4. Preparation of Reports – 30%
- Prepare and compile Bank of Tanzania (BOT) and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) reports.
- Serve as a contact person with Credit Information and BOT on matters relating to CRB credit reporting.
- Complete and submit credit reference reports to BOT on a monthly basis.
- Handle customer disputes concerning credit reference status by validating and updating their status with CRB where appropriate.
- Clear the Bank’s records upon customer request where applicable.
- Prepare vintage reports.
- Prepare PEP reports.
- Prepare daily collection efficiency reports.
- Support improved customer relationships.
- Ensure regulatory and reporting compliance.
- Contribute to maintaining a good public reputation for the organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
- Master’s Degree/Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Law, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Very good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
- Very good analytical and reporting skills.
- Five (5) years of experience in credit management will be an added advantage.
