About the Role

G4S is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Head of Finance to join its team in Dar es Salaam.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Head of Finance will coordinate the provision of effective financial support services within the business and play a key role in ensuring that financial operations comply with applicable legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Budgeting

• Prepare and ensure the timely submission of the region’s annual budget for Head Office approval, in accordance with defined budget guidelines and principles.
• Maintain expenditure within approved levels by ensuring compliance with budgetary control procedures.
• Prepare and submit accurate monthly forecasts on time.
• Facilitate the implementation of proactive measures to address potentially unacceptable financial outcomes.

Accounting and Administrative Control

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of decentralized accounting transactions through the ERP system.
• Maintain detailed accounting records with appropriate supporting source documentation.
• Manage the regional Accounts Receivable function.
• Implement effective credit control measures to maximize cash flow.
• Analyze and evaluate monthly accounts.
• Review actual financial performance against budget, identify trends, and highlight variances.
• Provide accurate and relevant management information to the Managing Director.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Effectively coordinate litigation, insurance, and other claims.

Leadership and Team Development

• Effectively manage subordinate personnel, including conducting performance assessments.
• Drive skills development and career path planning for team members.

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Participate in the design, development, review, implementation, and monitoring of branch, regional, and national safety plans.
• Participate in company safety forums, including safety meetings and safety talks.
• Report safety incidents to the relevant personnel.
• Discuss safety incidents at appropriate levels and follow up on actions assigned through safety meetings, committees, or management.
• Attend safety education and refresher programmes.
• Comply with workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Distribute safety information as required.
• Wear required protective clothing at all times.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and other applicable compliance obligations.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management, Accounting, or a relevant field.
• A postgraduate degree will be highly advantageous.
• Qualified Chartered Accountant or holder of a recognized equivalent professional accounting certification.

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in Accounting and/or Finance.
• Knowledge of local tax law and company law.
• Familiarity with security industry legislation will be an advantage.
