Job Purpose

The Strategy Monitoring Analyst will support the execution of NMB Bank’s strategic plan through data-driven monitoring, performance analysis, and strategic insights.

The role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple sources to monitor strategic initiatives, evaluate business performance, identify emerging trends and risks, and provide actionable insights to support management decision-making.

The successful candidate will work closely with Business Units, the Strategy Team, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate performance measurement, timely reporting, and continuous monitoring of strategic initiatives against the Bank’s Medium-Term Plan (MTP).

Main Responsibilities

1. Strategy Monitoring & Performance Management

• Monitor implementation of the Bank’s strategic initiatives and ensure progress is tracked against agreed milestones and timelines.
• Maintain and continuously improve the strategy execution monitoring framework and initiative tracker.
• Monitor strategic KPIs and performance scorecards across business units.
• Track execution against the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) and annual strategy.
• Identify execution risks, delays, and bottlenecks and escalate key issues appropriately.
• Follow up with business units to ensure timely submission and validation of strategic performance information.

2. Data Analytics & Performance Intelligence

• Collect, consolidate, and analyze large volumes of operational, financial, and strategic data from multiple sources.
• Perform advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and performance drivers.
• Mine and interrogate data to answer strategic business questions and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Develop analytical models and datasets to support strategy monitoring and business performance analysis.
• Validate data integrity, completeness, and consistency before reporting.
• Work closely with the Strategy Data Team to define data requirements and leverage available analytical tools.
• Perform root cause analysis to explain performance deviations and identify underlying business issues.
• Conduct customer, product, channel, sector, and portfolio analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Recommend improvements to performance measurement methodologies and analytical processes.

3. Strategic Insights & Decision Support

• Translate complex data into meaningful business insights and practical recommendations.
• Analyze business performance against strategic objectives and explain the key drivers behind performance.
• Identify emerging risks, opportunities, and strategic trends requiring management attention.
• Conduct strategic deep dives on key initiatives, customer segments, products, sectors, or business issues.
• Evaluate new strategic initiatives and value propositions against expected business outcomes.
• Support the development of business cases through financial and strategic analysis.
• Provide analytical support for strategy reviews, planning sessions, and special projects.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Work closely with business units to understand performance drivers and strategic priorities.
• Liaise with the Strategy Data Team to obtain and validate analytical outputs.
• Build effective working relationships with Finance, Retail, Wholesale, Treasury, Digital, and other support functions.
• Facilitate discussions with initiative owners to understand implementation progress and challenges.
• Promote a data-driven decision-making culture across the organization.

Knowledge and Skills

Technical Skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and data modelling.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex datasets.
• Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis is highly desirable.
• Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
• Good understanding of data quality management and analytical methodologies.
• Strong financial and business performance analysis skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Strategy, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Performance Management, Management Information, Financial Analysis, or related analytical roles.
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing business performance and producing management insights.
• Experience using SQL, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
