Job Purpose

The Senior Manager – Platform Architect will lead solution assessment, architecture design, and technical evaluation for new technology initiatives and implementations.

The role serves as a technical authority throughout the solution lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through vendor evaluation, implementation, and transition into operations.

The position is responsible for ensuring that proposed and implemented solutions align with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, integration requirements, security policies, regulatory obligations, and the Bank’s long-term technology strategy.

The role also involves conducting detailed technical due diligence on proposed solutions and vendors to support secure, scalable, sustainable, and maintainable technology investments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and technical assessments of new business systems and technology initiatives.
• Analyse business, functional, and non-functional requirements and translate them into end-to-end solution architecture designs covering applications, integrations, infrastructure, security, and data.
• Produce and maintain solution architecture artefacts, technical specifications, design documentation, system interactions, process flows, data flows, and integration requirements.
• Ensure proposed solutions comply with approved enterprise architecture principles, standards, patterns, and technology strategy.
• Participate in RFP, RFQ, procurement, vendor evaluation, proof-of-concept, and solution demonstration activities.
• Define technical evaluation criteria and assess vendor proposals, product roadmaps, architecture, scalability, security, support models, and implementation methodologies.
• Identify solution gaps and recommend design approaches that support scalability, maintainability, extensibility, and business growth.
• Guide development teams on architecture practices and design patterns.
• Review solution architecture, customization requirements, development frameworks, code-quality approaches, and technical deliverables.
• Define and review integration approaches, API capabilities, middleware requirements, enterprise integration patterns, and secure data exchange between new and existing platforms.
• Embed security-by-design principles and identify architectural risks and mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams during solution assessment and implementation.
• Participate in project governance and architecture review forums.
• Monitor adherence to approved architecture.
• Manage architecture-related risks, issues, and decisions.
• Support integration testing, user acceptance testing, deployment planning, architecture validation, operational readiness, and handover to operations and support teams.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, developers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, and enterprise architects throughout the solution lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in software development, systems analysis, solution design, or enterprise applications.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in architecture, solution architecture, or senior technical leadership roles.
• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, or a related field is an added advantage.
• PMP, PRINCE2, Certified ScrumMaster, or Agile certification is an added advantage.

Preferred Certifications

• TOGAF.
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional.
• ITIL Foundation.

Additional Requirements and Experience

• Proven experience in large-scale system implementation projects, with a strong background in application development and/or systems integration.
• Experience evaluating enterprise solutions and technology vendors, including participation in procurement, RFP, and vendor-selection processes.
• Experience working across cross-functional business and technology teams.
• Ability to communicate complex architecture matters clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making abilities.
• Technical leadership and facilitation skills.
• Strong documentation and presentation skills.
• Strong stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to evaluate competing solution options and provide objective, evidence-based recommendations.
• Ability to manage architecture risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions across complex implementations.
