About TANROADS

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. The Agency is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager, TANROADS Dodoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is inviting applications from qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the vacant position available under the above-mentioned road project.

The recruitment is intended to strengthen the capacity of the TANROADS Dodoma Regional Office to effectively discharge its functions on the project.

Entry Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a Tanzanian Citizen.
• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Highway Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
• Must have experience working as a Materials Engineer on three (3) projects of the same nature.
• Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer (Materials) will be responsible for:

1. Complete supervision of the laboratory and experiments, ensuring that specifications are strictly applied.
2. Ensuring the implementation of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures throughout the project. The entire Quality Checklist must be effectively implemented.
3. Inspecting, testing, and approving all materials and completed works to ensure compliance with technical specification requirements.
4. Ensuring that proper, regular, and approved calibrations are carried out on time for all testing equipment in the laboratories.
5. Overseeing that all approved material samples in the sample room on site are properly organized, stored, and labelled.
6. Preparing daily reports regarding the work, approved samples, and supplied materials, checking inventories, and maintaining records for all materials-related activities in the project.
7. Advising the Resident Engineer regarding the application of materials used on site, in addition to quality control matters.
8. Reviewing test results submitted by the Contractor and their respective pavement and materials reports, and advising on the appropriate way forward.

Terms of Employment

Specified contract for one (1) year or more, upon completion of the project.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to the TANROADS Salary Scale and TANROADS Policy.

Successful applicants must be prepared to work for considerable periods in Dodoma Region, where the project is located.
