About TANROADS

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of maintaining and developing the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. The Agency is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager, TANROADS Dodoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is seeking qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions under the above-mentioned road project.

The recruitment is intended to strengthen the capacity of the TANROADS Dodoma Regional Office to effectively discharge its functions on the project.

Position: Senior Engineer (Highway Engineer)

Entry Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be a Tanzanian Citizen.
• Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Highway Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
• Must have at least seven (7) years of working experience in a related field.
• Must have experience on three (3) projects of the same nature as a Highway Engineer.
• Must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer (Highway Engineer) will be responsible for:

1. Being fully responsible for the supervision of construction in accordance with the provisions of the Contract.
2. Supervising road surveys and construction of pavement structures.
3. Measuring quantities and managing site operations to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed and that the final product is equal to or better than the specified requirements, at the most economical cost and in full compliance with the governing specifications.
4. Supervising construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial, and economic practices.
5. Conducting design reviews and assisting in the approval of shop drawings.
6. Assisting the Resident Project Manager with the preparation of weekly and monthly project updates and reports.
7. Updating and maintaining the master schedule for the project.
8. Coordinating the supervision team to avoid unnecessary claims and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
9. Assisting the Resident Project Manager to record, examine, and evaluate claims submitted by the Contractor.

Terms of Employment

Specified contract for one (1) year or more, upon completion of the project.

Salary

Salary will be paid according to the TANROADS Salary Scale and TANROADS Policy.

Successful applicants must be prepared to work for considerable periods in Dodoma Region, where the project is located.
