Key Requirements and Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or an equivalent field.

Professional Experience

• Minimum 10 years of project or delivery management experience in technology.
• At least 3 years of experience in fintech, mobile money, digital banking, or telecommunications.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate should have:

• Hands-on technical delivery experience with core wallet, core banking, or payments platforms.
• A proven track record of managing technical workstreams within larger transformation programmes, including integration delivery and data migration.
• Experience managing Tier-1 vendor delivery teams alongside third-party integrators.
• Experience working in African markets is preferred.
• Experience managing multi-country technology delivery is an advantage.
• Strong working knowledge of:
  • Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban
  • Waterfall project delivery
  • Hybrid delivery models
• Ability to select and apply the appropriate project delivery approach depending on the project context.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Project Planning and Delivery

• Build and maintain detailed technical project plans for assigned workstreams.
• Integrate technical workstream plans into the overall programme plan managed by the Programme Director.
• Ensure technical activities, milestones, and deliverables remain aligned with the wider programme objectives.

Dependency Management

• Identify, document, and actively manage dependencies within the assigned workstream.
• Coordinate dependencies across other workstreams, including:
  • Product
  • Compliance
  • Data
  • Distribution
  • Operations
  • Customer Care

Vendor and Delivery Team Coordination

• Coordinate Core Wallet delivery teams and third-party vendors on a daily basis.
• Track Statements of Work (SOW) deliverables and project milestones.
• Monitor vendor performance and Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence.
• Ensure delivery issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner.

Risk and Issue Management

• Maintain Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID) logs.
• Identify potential risks and issues affecting project delivery.
• Drive mitigation and resolution actions through to closure.

Testing and Quality Assurance

• Plan and coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT).
• Orchestrate User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Coordinate performance and security testing cycles.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) teams, vendors, and business-unit teams throughout testing.

Project Documentation

Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including:

• Project plans
• RAID logs
• Decision logs
• Action logs
• Meeting minutes
• Change records
• Other relevant project artefacts

Resource Management

• Manage resource onboarding, allocation, and offboarding across the workstream.
• Coordinate internal employees, contractors, and vendor resources.
• Ensure appropriate resources are available to support project delivery.
