About Kafika House
Kafika House is an international NGO based in Arusha, Tanzania. Through the Kafika House programme, the organization provides a safe and nurturing environment for children undergoing pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation for surgically treatable disabilities.
These conditions include cleft lip and palate, clubfoot, skeletal fluorosis, burn scar contractures and osteomyelitis. Kafika House’s vision is that no child in Tanzania should live with a treatable disability.
Job Overview
Kafika House is seeking a dedicated Facility Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations of its Arusha facility and ensure a safe, well-organized and high-quality environment for children receiving care.
The successful candidate will provide effective leadership to the facility team, coordinate residential care services and work closely with the Management Team to ensure smooth operations while upholding Kafika House’s values, standards and commitment to the well-being of every child.
Key Responsibilities
The Facility Coordinator will oversee the daily operations of the Arusha facility, including residential care, housekeeping, kitchen, groundskeeping, laundry and social work services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate facility teams, rosters, timetables and daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with Kafika House Child Protection and PSEAH standards.
- Build and maintain good relationships with local stakeholders and government authorities.
- Support the hosting of visitors and volunteers at the facility.
- Ensure effective communication between the facility and the Kafika House Management Team.
- Monitor adherence to facility SOPs, standards and procedures.
- Recommend improvements to facility operations where necessary.
- Work with the Programmes Manager on facility planning, budgeting and expenditure.
- Lead and support the team in building a positive, professional and values-driven working environment.
- Support staff development, training and performance.
- Provide regular updates, reports and advice to management regarding facility operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Sociology or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience, including proven experience in facility operations.
- Experience working with local suppliers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good critical-thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to delegate, coordinate and follow through on tasks.
- High levels of integrity, confidentiality and fairness.
- Good planning and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A practical approach to identifying challenges and finding solutions.
