Mkwawa Leaf Tobacco Limited (MLTL) is a tobacco company based in Morogoro, Tanzania, engaged in the tobacco industry and supporting agricultural and agronomy operations. The company is seeking a qualified and experienced HR professional to support its Agronomy Department and employees within the Western zone.
Job Summary
The HR Business Partner – Agronomy, West will provide comprehensive human resources support to the Agronomy Department, covering recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, labour matters, performance management, training, employee welfare, compliance, and succession planning.
The successful candidate will also work closely with management, employees, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective HR administration and compliance with company policies and applicable labour laws.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Manage recruitment processes for both fixed-term and seasonal employees.
- Post job advertisements, screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate subsequent interview stages.
- Participate in onboarding new employees.
- Provide new employees with necessary information and facilitate orientation programs.
HR Administration and Employee Support
- Process HR documentation relating to staffing, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and termination.
- Handle employee queries on HR-related issues and direct them to the appropriate person or department where necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper administration and maintenance of employee welfare policies, including funeral support, loans, and leave.
- Manage medical services for employees.
Employee Relations and Labour Matters
- Ensure compliance with labour regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and organizational trends.
- Manage and supervise disciplinary and grievance processes and other related matters in accordance with company policies and applicable labour laws.
- Attend the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration (CMA) in an effort to resolve labour disputes on behalf of the company.
- Attend Trade Union meetings within the respective zone.
- Liaise with statutory bodies, including the Regional Labour Officer, on labour-related matters.
Performance Management and Training
- Coordinate performance management and other related activities from start to finish.
- Support the Agronomy Department in identifying training needs.
- Coordinate required training activities.
- Identify critical positions and maintain oversight of succession planning.

Qualifications and Experience
- At least four (4) years of experience in a similar or relevant role within a reputable institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B), Human Resources, or Public Administration.
- Familiarity with HR and administration practices.
- Experience handling labour matters, including disciplinary cases and CMA labour cases.
- Previous working experience in the tobacco industry will be an added advantage.
- For candidates with a law background, being a registered Advocate will be an added advantage.
Reporting Line
The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Human Resources.
Location
The successful candidate will be based at Tabora Municipality.
