Key Purpose of the Role
The Electrical Artisan will ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical equipment and systems by:
- Performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
- Minimizing equipment downtime.
- Improving plant reliability.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with electrical safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electrical Maintenance and Reliability
- Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on plant and utilities equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and conduct structured root-cause analysis.
- Diagnose and repair faults involving:
- Motors
- MCCs
- Control panels
- VSDs/VFDs
- Sensors
- Instrumentation
- PLC-controlled systems
- Generators
- Transformers
- Other electrical equipment
- Execute electrical installations, modifications, testing, commissioning and equipment upgrades.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics and technical manuals.
2. Automation and Continuous Improvement
- Support troubleshooting of automation and control systems, including PLCs, VSDs, sensors, actuators and industrial control circuits.
- Participate in equipment improvement and reliability projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, energy efficiency and system reliability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimization activities.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all electrical work complies with electrical safety standards, LOTOTO procedures, PPE requirements and company policies.
- Conduct inspections to identify electrical hazards, defects and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards within electrical work areas.
- Promote safety, quality and operational excellence.
4. Administration and Collaboration
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment history and technical documentation.
- Use computerized maintenance management systems and digital tools for planning, reporting and maintenance tracking.
- Collaborate with mechanical, instrumentation, automation, utilities and production teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support during breakdowns, shutdowns, commissioning and start-up activities.
- Support spare-parts identification and ensure critical electrical components are properly managed and available.
Key Competencies and Attributes
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems and motor control.
- Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs/VSDs, instrumentation, sensors and control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure during equipment breakdowns.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
Minimum Requirements
- Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering from a recognized institute.
- Experience in industrial electrical maintenance within a brewery, FMCG, manufacturing, utilities or other process-industry environment will be an advantage.
