Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) is a specialized medical institution in Tanzania providing orthopedic, trauma and related specialist healthcare services, as well as clinical training and research.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Specialist II – Anaesthesiologist will be responsible for the following:

  1. Attend to emergency medical duties.
  2. Conduct ward rounds.
  3. Perform surgical duties.
  4. Provide clinical services in both private and public outpatient clinics.
  5. Conduct research in the respective medical field.
  6. Participate fully in morning clinical sessions, patient presentations and journal clubs.
  7. Teach and supervise medical doctors and students in clinical work and surgical procedures.
  8. Participate in outreach programmes.
  9. Participate in the preparation of the Medical Directorate’s budget.
  10. Initiate, create and plan strategies to improve professional services.
  11. Prepare continuing education programmes for medical personnel.
  12. Provide medical advice or professional opinions in courts of law.
  13. Perform administrative duties within the respective working area.
  14. Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and MOI business processes.
  15. Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Anaesthesiology from a recognized institution.
  • Be fully registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika.

Remuneration

Salary Scale: PMGSS 11/1
