About Union Meat Group

Union Meat Group operates in the meat industry under the tagline “Premium Quality Meat.” The company is seeking a Junior Accountant with practical accounting experience and strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will support daily accounting operations, tax filings, financial reporting, and compliance with the requirements of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Handle daily accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.

• Perform account reconciliations.

• Support payroll processing and related accounting activities.

• Prepare financial reports and assist with routine financial management tasks.

2. Tax Compliance and Filing

• Prepare and file Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), Skills and Development Levy (SDL), Withholding Tax (WHT), and corporate tax returns through the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

• Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in accordance with applicable Tanzanian tax laws.

• Manage tax compliance records and supporting documentation.

3. EFD/VFD and Statutory Compliance

• Manage Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) and Virtual Fiscal Devices (VFDs), as applicable.

• Ensure compliance with statutory deductions and tax obligations.

• Maintain accurate records relating to tax payments, deductions, and other statutory requirements.

4. Tax Audits and Customs Matters

• Support TRA audits and tax reviews.

• Assist with tax-related documentation and queries.

• Handle matters relating to import taxes and customs duties.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.

• CPA (T), ACCA Level 2 or Level 3, or registration with NBAA/ACCA, as stated in the advert.

• At least three years of accounting experience.

• At least six months of practical experience filing taxes through TRA.

• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Good understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and regulations.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• High integrity and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills.

• Age requirement: 28 years or below.
