About Us

Bagamoyo Sugar Limited (BSL) is a major industrial unit of the renowned Bakhresa Group in Tanzania. Incorporated in 2016, BSL was established at the behest of the Tanzanian Government to develop a massive, greenfield integrated sugar production facility and sugarcane plantation in Makurunge, Bagamoyo District.

Mission and Impact:

The primary objective of BSL is to alleviate the national shortfall in domestic sugar supply, working towards Tanzania’s self-sufficiency in sugar and eventually producing a surplus for export. The project is strategically important, utilizing state-of-the-art digital farm technology and modern irrigation systems. Furthermore, BSL is deeply committed to the community, generating thousands of employment opportunities for local youth and supporting an out-grower scheme to commercialize smallholder farmers by providing technical support and a guaranteed market for their sugarcane crop.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operate water treatment equipment such as filters, softeners, clarifiers, and chemical dosing systems.
Monitor water quality parameters (pH, TDS, hardness, chlorine, etc.) and adjust treatment processes accordingly.
Conduct routine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of WTP equipment.
Record operational data including flow rates, chemical consumption, and equipment performance.
Troubleshoot operational problems and report major faults to the supervisor.
Ensure proper storage and handling of water treatment chemicals.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the plant area.
Follow safety protocols, including PPE use, chemical handling, and emergency procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for water treatment efficiency.

Qualification and Skills Required

Proven working experience of at least one year in the field.
Proficiency in English and Kiswahili is required.
Ability to communicate operational.
Diploma in water treatment technology, laboratory technology, chemical, and process/plant operations or a relevant field.
