About SUMAIT: Abdulrahman Al-Sumait University (SUMAIT) was built on the foundation of the former University College of Education Zanzibar, established in 1998 by the Kuwait-based charity organization, Direct Aid (DA). The university is currently inviting applications from qualified individuals to fill various academic and administrative vacancies in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

I. ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

1. Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Finance and Administration (DVC-AF)

• Location: Zanzibar, Tanzania.

• Role Summary: Acts as the principal assistant to the Vice-Chancellor in all matters pertaining to the administration of the University, including funds, planning, and assets.

• Key Requirements:

  • Must be a Professor or Associate Professor from a recognized University with an earned PhD.

  • At least five (5) years of proven experience in management and leadership, with three (3) years at a senior level.

  • Knowledge of financial management, resource mobilization, strategic planning, and budgeting in higher education.

  • Understanding of the relevant policy and legal framework for financial management in Tanzania.

2. University Bursar (1 Position)

• Reports To: Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance.

• Role Summary: Central to the financial management and consultancy activities of the university; responsible for financial administration.

• Key Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Professional certification such as CPA (T), ACCA, or equivalent is highly desirable.

  • At least 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in higher education or the public sector.

  • Proven track record in budgeting, financial reporting, and managing audits.

3. System Administrator (1 Position)

• Role Summary: Responsible for planning, configuring, maintaining, and securing IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, databases, and ERP/LMS systems.

• Key Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in systems administration.

  • Preferred certifications: CCNA, MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA Server+/Security+, ITIL, or RHCE.

4. Internal Auditor (1 Position)

• Role Summary: Responsible for evaluating internal controls and ensuring financial records are accurate and comply with regulations.

• Key Requirements:

  • Full professional qualifications: CPA(T), ACCA, or ACA.

  • At least three (3) years of working experience in a similar position.

II. ACADEMIC POSITIONS (5 POSTS)

Faculty of Sciences – Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences

1. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity (2 Posts)

   • Requirements: PhD in Cybersecurity or PhD in Computer Science/IT with a research focus in Cybersecurity. Master’s degree (GPA 4.0+) and Bachelor’s degree (GPA 3.5+) in relevant fields.

2. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Data Science/AI (2 Posts)

   • Requirements: PhD in Data Science, AI, or Machine Learning. Master’s degree (GPA 4.0+) and Bachelor’s degree (GPA 3.5+) in relevant fields.

3. Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science (1 Post).
