Scope of Work & Responsibilities

The primary objective of this role is to operate, monitor, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient and reliable water supply in accordance with farm schedules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Water Monitoring & Control

• Ensure consistent water supply to irrigation systems.
• Monitor water silo levels and system flow performance.

2. System Treatment & Disinfection

• Oversee water disinfection systems (e.g. chlorine treatment).
• Verify and maintain correct parts-per-million (ppm) levels.

3. Water Quality Management

• Conduct routine water quality checks and germ counts.
• Take corrective actions when quality parameters fall outside standards.

4. Irrigation Automation

• Program and adjust irrigation computer settings based on:
  • Climate conditions
  • Crop water requirements

5. Fertigation Operations

• Accurately mix fertilizers for irrigation systems.
• Monitor and record EC and pH levels.
• Maintain proper fertigation records.

6. System Maintenance

• Supervise and support maintenance of:
  • Pumps
  • Filters
  • Valves
  • Pipelines

7. Performance Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor drip versus leach performance.
• Report on system efficiency and operational status.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Diploma or Degree in:
  • Irrigation Engineering
  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Horticulture
  • Or a related field

Eligibility

• Applicants must have graduated between 2023 and 2025.

Technical Interest & Knowledge

• Strong interest in automated irrigation systems.
• Understanding of crop water requirements.
• Basic knowledge of water quality analysis and distribution networks.
