Organization Overview
Nitidæ is a non-governmental organization dedicated to designing and implementing projects that integrate environmental preservation with local economic development in rural areas. The organization operates approximately 30 projects globally, focusing on agricultural value chains and forest conservation.
Project Context: SATAF Programme
The roles are part of the EU-funded SATAF (Strengthening Agroecological Transition & Agroforestry in Africa) programme.

Focus: Supporting the transition of coffee and cashew value chains toward sustainable agroforestry and agroecological systems.

Locations: Cashew activities in Mkuranga (Pwani) and coffee activities in Lushoto/Bumbuli (West Usambara Mountains).

Duration: Field operations are expected to begin by April 2026.
Position Details

Job Title: Agricultural Extension Officers (3 positions)
-
Reporting to: Deputy Agronomic Technical Manager
-
Location: Based in project areas (Lushoto or Mkuranga) with more than 60% time spent in the field.

Contract Type: 1-year fixed-term contract (renewable) with a probation period.
Key Responsibilities
-
Characterization of Practices: Conduct interviews, surveys, and focus groups to identify farming systems, production constraints, and risks.

Farmer Support: Implement on-farm trials, establish test plots, and provide individualized technical advisory services.

Training & Dissemination: Facilitate training sessions for farmers and technicians and disseminate validated agroecological technical models.

Reporting: Contribute to technical coordination meetings and analyze results from field trials.
Requirements & Skills
Minimum Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related rural development discipline.

Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrable experience with crop and livestock systems.

Field Experience: Direct experience working with smallholder farmers and rural communities.

Licensing: Valid motorbike driving license is mandatory.
Essential Skills
-
In-depth knowledge of agroecology, organic farming, and agroforestry.

Proficiency in data collection (quantitative and qualitative) and Microsoft Office.

Fluency in both English and Swahili (written and oral).

Familiarity with farming systems in Pwani Region or the Usambara Mountains.

Experience specifically with coffee or cashew production systems is an added advantage.
