About Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML)
Geita Gold Mining Ltd is Tanzania’s leading gold producer, operating in the Geita Region. The mine is located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields, approximately:
- 85 km from Mwanza
- 20 km southeast of Lake Victoria
The company’s head office is in Geita, with an additional support office in Dar es Salaam.
Objective of the Role
To develop risk-mitigated underground mine designs and production schedules that meet budget targets while aligning with the company’s vision and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mine Planning & Strategy
- Develop short-, medium-, and long-term underground mine plans
- Optimize production schedules, stope sequencing, and development strategies
- Contribute to life-of-mine planning and long-term optimization
Operational Alignment
- Ensure coordination between mine planning, geology, survey, and operations teams
- Align plans with safety, production, and cost objectives
Performance Management
- Monitor planned vs. actual performance and implement corrective actions
- Drive improvements in efficiency, cost control, and safety outcomes
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary planning team
- Foster a high-performance and continuous improvement culture
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with key stakeholders across technical and operational departments
- Influence decision-making through strong communication and leadership

Minimum Requirements
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Mining Engineering
- Professional Registration with ERB
Experience & Skills
- Significant experience in underground mine planning
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
- Strong expertise in mine design, scheduling, and production planning
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Datamine Studio, or similar)
- Ability to drive performance improvements and operational efficiency
