Job Summary – Special Asset Management Role

Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Monitoring
- Prepare quarterly write-off accounts for non-performing credit assets (loss category for 4 quarters).
- Compile monthly and quarterly SAM reports for committees (SAM, Watchlist, LPQ, CREDCO, Board).
- Generate daily reports:
- Overdraft (OD) excess reports
- Loans in arrears
- Track watchlist accounts and recommend downgrades where necessary.
Credit File & Risk Management
- Ensure all downgraded accounts have complete documentation:
- Case profiles
- Legal security reviews
- Handover reports
- Maintain records of:
- Assigned account owners
- Sold assets (value, buyer, recovery amount)
Compliance & Documentation
- Verify security documentation (valuation, insurance, taxes, land rent).
- Review:
- Facility letters
- Deeds of settlement
- Ensure compliance with:
- Loan covenants
- Collateral agreements
- Bank of Tanzania (BOT) guidelines
Loan Restructuring & Follow-up
- Cross-check loan restructuring details (limits, disbursement, interest, system setup).
- Monitor customer compliance deadlines.
- Follow up on legal cases and recovery processes.
Portfolio & Data Analysis
- Analyze loan portfolio quality (LPQ).
- Prepare write-off summaries by segment and zone.
- Track annual and quarterly reviews of downgraded accounts.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Bank loan products and credit lifecycle
- Credit appraisal and restructuring
- Systems and tools:
- Flexcube (banking system)
- Advanced Excel (data analysis and reporting)
- Financial skills:
- Reconciliation
- Risk asset management
Behavioural Skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong teamwork and relationship management
- Ability to work independently
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Banking / Finance / Accounting / Economics / Commerce
- Experience:
- 4+ years in banking
- Preferably in:
- Special Asset Management
- Business Support
- Workout/Recovery Unit
