Position Overview
The Procurement and Logistics Officer is responsible for managing end-to-end procurement and logistics operations. The role ensures effective sourcing, supplier management, inventory control, and transportation coordination while maintaining compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors
- Prepare RFQs, RFPs, and purchase orders
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms for cost efficiency and quality
- Maintain supplier relationships and monitor performance
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations (including PPRA)
Logistics & Inventory Management
- Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock
- Coordinate transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities
- Track shipments and resolve delays or customs issues
- Optimize logistics routes and reduce operational costs
- Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian procurement laws and ethical standards
- Prepare procurement reports, budgets, and cost analyses
- Conduct audits of procurement and logistics processes
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and HR teams
- Support tendering and contract management processes
- Assist in supply chain risk and disruption management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in procurement or logistics
- Experience in mining, construction, or heavy equipment industries is an advantage
- CIPS certification or equivalent preferred
- CSCP or logistics certification is an added advantage
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Strong MS Office skills
- Experience with inventory management systems

- Strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Excellent organization and time management
- Knowledge of procurement laws and customs procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills in English and Kiswahili
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
Working Conditions
- Office-based role with site visits and supplier meetings
- Occasional travel to remote locations
- May require extended working hours during peak procurement periods
