Job Summary
The Relationship Manager – Chinese Desk is responsible for:
- Developing and managing strong client relationships with Chinese customers
- Driving profitable business growth across Retail and Business Banking
- Ensuring revenue growth, risk management, and excellent service delivery
The role focuses on increasing portfolio value and building long-term client partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales and Service (55%)
- Develop and execute strategic client plans for Chinese clients
- Grow portfolio value through cross-selling and up-selling bank products
- Analyse portfolio performance, revenue, and profitability
- Identify business opportunities and provide tailored financial solutions
- Maintain strong relationships with key decision makers
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery
- Promote digital banking channels to clients
- Understand client businesses, financial performance, and needs
2. Business Focus (20%)
- Support client relationship strategy and overall portfolio management
- Analyse market trends, sector developments, and client opportunities
- Maintain strong knowledge of banking products and services
- Monitor client revenue performance and identify growth opportunities
- Drive annual budgets and track performance against targets
- Manage client feedback and service improvement plans
3. Risk Focus (15%)
- Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements
- Participate in credit approval processes and documentation
- Manage credit risk, exposure, and portfolio quality
- Conduct annual credit reviews and facility monitoring
- Act as first line of defence in managing client-related risks
- Identify and escalate high-risk clients or issues
4. People Focus (10%)
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development
- Coach and support junior team members and analysts
- Participate in training, mentoring, and on-the-job development
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in:
- Business
- Commerce
- Management Studies
- Or related field
Experience and Skills
- Experience in a similar banking or financial services environment
- Strong relationship-building and customer service skills
- Knowledge of banking products and services
- Strong communication skills
- Digital banking familiarity
- Commercial mindset with business development ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
