Job Summary

The Relationship Manager – Chinese Desk is responsible for:

  • Developing and managing strong client relationships with Chinese customers
  • Driving profitable business growth across Retail and Business Banking
  • Ensuring revenue growth, risk management, and excellent service delivery

The role focuses on increasing portfolio value and building long-term client partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

1. Sales and Service (55%)

  • Develop and execute strategic client plans for Chinese clients
  • Grow portfolio value through cross-selling and up-selling bank products
  • Analyse portfolio performance, revenue, and profitability
  • Identify business opportunities and provide tailored financial solutions
  • Maintain strong relationships with key decision makers
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Promote digital banking channels to clients
  • Understand client businesses, financial performance, and needs

2. Business Focus (20%)

  • Support client relationship strategy and overall portfolio management
  • Analyse market trends, sector developments, and client opportunities
  • Maintain strong knowledge of banking products and services
  • Monitor client revenue performance and identify growth opportunities
  • Drive annual budgets and track performance against targets
  • Manage client feedback and service improvement plans

3. Risk Focus (15%)

  • Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in credit approval processes and documentation
  • Manage credit risk, exposure, and portfolio quality
  • Conduct annual credit reviews and facility monitoring
  • Act as first line of defence in managing client-related risks
  • Identify and escalate high-risk clients or issues

4. People Focus (10%)

  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development
  • Coach and support junior team members and analysts
  • Participate in training, mentoring, and on-the-job development

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business
    • Commerce
    • Management Studies
    • Or related field

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in a similar banking or financial services environment
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of banking products and services
  • Strong communication skills
  • Digital banking familiarity
  • Commercial mindset with business development ability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
  • Openness to learning and adapting to change
