The School Counsellor will support students in their:

You will play a key role in promoting mental health, emotional wellbeing, and resilience, while working closely with teachers, parents, and school leadership.


🧭 Key Responsibilities

🧑‍🎓 Student Support & Counselling

  • Provide counselling services addressing:
    • Emotional wellbeing
    • Social challenges
    • Academic concerns
  • Conduct:
    • Individual counselling sessions
    • Group counselling sessions
  • Perform assessments and develop intervention plans

🤝 Collaboration & Environment Building

  • Work with:
    • Teachers
    • Parents
    • School leadership
  • Create a supportive and inclusive school environment

⚠️ Safeguarding & Risk Management

  • Identify and manage counselling-related risks
  • Ensure strong safeguarding and child protection practices
  • Maintain consistent monitoring of counselling systems

📚 Awareness & Training

  • Promote counselling awareness among:
    • Staff
    • Students
    • Parents
  • Deliver training and guidance sessions

📊 Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate counselling records
  • Ensure compliance with AKES standards for:
    • Children
    • Adults

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

📘 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Counselling
    • Psychology
    • Social Work
    • Or related field

Added Advantage:

  • Master’s degree

📜 Professional Requirements

  • Certification in counselling or child protection (highly desirable)

💼 Experience

  • 2–4 years of counselling experience
  • Preferably in a school setting

    • Child protection frameworks
    • Risk management
  • Excellent:
