The School Counsellor will support students in their:
- Personal development
- Academic progress
- Career guidance
You will play a key role in promoting mental health, emotional wellbeing, and resilience, while working closely with teachers, parents, and school leadership.
π§ Key Responsibilities
π§βπ Student Support & Counselling
- Provide counselling services addressing:
- Emotional wellbeing
- Social challenges
- Academic concerns
- Conduct:
- Individual counselling sessions
- Group counselling sessions
- Perform assessments and develop intervention plans
π€ Collaboration & Environment Building
- Work with:
- Teachers
- Parents
- School leadership
- Create a supportive and inclusive school environment
β οΈ Safeguarding & Risk Management
- Identify and manage counselling-related risks
- Ensure strong safeguarding and child protection practices
- Maintain consistent monitoring of counselling systems
π Awareness & Training
- Promote counselling awareness among:
- Staff
- Students
- Parents
- Deliver training and guidance sessions
π Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate counselling records
- Ensure compliance with AKES standards for:
- Children
- Adults
π Qualifications & Experience
π Education
- Bachelorβs degree in:
- Counselling
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Or related field
Added Advantage:
- Masterβs degree
π Professional Requirements
- Certification in counselling or child protection (highly desirable)
πΌ Experience
- 2β4 years of counselling experience
- Preferably in a school setting

- Child protection frameworks
- Risk management
