Rafiki Social Development Organization (Rafiki-SDO)

Introduction

Rafiki Social Development Organization (Rafiki-SDO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization working with children, youth, marginalized and vulnerable groups, families, and communities. The organization aims to support communities to reach their full potential by advocating for rights and addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice.

Established in January 2005, Rafiki-SDO is registered under the NGO Act of 2002 with registration number 00NGO/R1/00226, operating in Tanzania Mainland.

Rafiki-SDO is implementing the “Mwalimu Kwanza, Elimu Bora” project, which focuses on improving teacher motivation, professional development, attendance, and performance through capacity building, community engagement, and strengthened school systems.

To support effective implementation, Rafiki-SDO invites qualified and motivated candidates to apply for the following positions:


1. Program Manager – Mwalimu Kwanza, Elimu Bora Project (1 Post)

📍 Duty Station: Geita / Shinyanga Region
📌 Reports To: Executive Director


Job Purpose

The Program Manager will provide overall leadership, coordination, and strategic oversight of the teacher motivation project. The role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of project activities while maintaining strong stakeholder partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities according to approved workplans and budgets
  • Provide technical guidance to project staff and ensure quality delivery of interventions
  • Coordinate with local government authorities, schools, and partners
  • Ensure integration of gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding
  • Prepare and submit timely and quality narrative and financial reports
  • Monitor performance against project indicators and support adaptive management
  • Support capacity building of teachers, school leaders, and communities
  • Represent Rafiki-SDO in stakeholder meetings and forums
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational policies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project management (education/community development preferred)
  • Experience in donor-funded projects
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Knowledge of gender equality, safeguarding, and inclusion
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills

2. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer – Mwalimu Kwanza, Elimu Bora Project (1 Post)

📍 Duty Station: Geita / Shinyanga Region
📌 Reports To: Program Manager


Job Purpose

The M&E Officer will design and implement the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) system to ensure quality data collection, analysis, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement M&E frameworks, tools, and plans
  • Support data collection, verification, and validation
  • Maintain project databases and ensure data quality
  • Analyze data and produce reports, dashboards, and insights
  • Ensure gender, age, and vulnerability disaggregation of data
  • Support preparation of donor and periodic reports
  • Conduct supervision and train staff on M&E systems
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and ethical standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, M&E, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of M&E experience (NGO/education sector preferred)
  • Strong skills in data analysis (Excel, SPSS, or similar tools)
  • Experience with digital data collection tools is an advantage
  • Knowledge of gender-sensitive data systems
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills

  • Willingness to travel frequently to field sites
