🎯 Job Purpose
The Cashier is responsible for providing efficient and accurate customer service at the cash till, ensuring all cash and credit transactions are processed in line with company SOPs, standards, and financial controls.
🧾 Key Responsibilities
đź’° 1. Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process all cash and credit transactions accurately at the register
- Scan or manually enter prices of items during checkout
- Ensure proper handling of funds to prevent losses
- Comply with treasury and cash handling policies
đź“Š 2. Cash Drawer Management
- Maintain accurate records of opening and closing cash balances
- Track cash movement and change requirements in the register drawer
- Ensure proper reconciliation of cash at end of shift
🔄 3. Reconciliation & Reporting
- Reconcile cash daily and ensure approvals for any discrepancies
- Prepare cash-up slips and submit cash to the store manager
- Maintain supporting documents for all cash transactions
🛑 4. Compliance & Control
- Follow company SOPs for all financial transactions
- Ensure no unauthorized product exchanges or refunds
- Adhere strictly to internal financial and treasury controls
🤝 5. Customer Service
- Provide professional and efficient service at all times
- Ensure smooth and accurate checkout experience for customers
🎓 Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Or related field
đź“Ś Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail environment (e.g. supermarkets or apparel stores)
- Experience in cash handling and point-of-sale systems
🧠Skills Required
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer systems
- Strong integrity and accountability in handling cash
- Good customer service skills
👤 Preferred Profile
- Age: 25–35 years
- Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in fast-paced retail environments
