Job Overview

The Embassy of Belgium in Tanzania is seeking a qualified Accountant to support financial and administrative operations.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, independent, and client-focused, with the ability to follow technical procedures accurately.


Employment Offer

  • Full-time contract (1 year, renewable based on performance)
  • 37 working hours per week
  • 6-month probation period
  • Gross salary: TZS 4,125,240/month (for candidates with 2 years’ experience; adjusted based on experience)
  • End-of-year bonus

Note: Non-Tanzanian applicants must obtain a valid work permit.


Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting Operations

  • Collect and process financial data and documentation
  • Record and update accounting entries in systems
  • Prepare:
    • Payroll-related documents (remuneration, bonuses, promotions)
    • Budget plans and reviews
    • Monthly financial updates
  • Prepare and process payments
  • Liaise with banks and external stakeholders
  • Review invoices, receipts, and disbursement documents
  • Monitor consular revenues
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and procedures
  • Assess financial data and identify risks (e.g., overspending, liquidity issues)
  • Maintain accurate records and archives

2. Logistics and Administrative Support

  • Identify and prioritize procurement needs
  • Support tendering processes:
    • Analyze bids
    • Draft reports and orders
  • Monitor contracts and service delivery
  • Maintain inventories (vehicles, equipment, assets)
  • Support building maintenance and safety
  • Coordinate with service providers and security firms

3. ICT Focal Point (SPOC)

  • Maintain inventory of ICT equipment
  • Report ICT needs and system issues
  • Support installation of hardware/software
  • Liaise with central ICT teams
  • Manage communication tools (phones, internet, etc.)
  • Monitor communication-related budgets

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • University degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Or equivalent professional experience

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in an accounting or similar role

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Outlook
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
