Job Overview
The Embassy of Belgium in Tanzania is seeking a qualified Accountant to support financial and administrative operations.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, independent, and client-focused, with the ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
Employment Offer
- Full-time contract (1 year, renewable based on performance)
- 37 working hours per week
- 6-month probation period
- Gross salary: TZS 4,125,240/month (for candidates with 2 years’ experience; adjusted based on experience)

Note: Non-Tanzanian applicants must obtain a valid work permit.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting Operations
- Collect and process financial data and documentation
- Record and update accounting entries in systems
- Prepare:
- Payroll-related documents (remuneration, bonuses, promotions)
- Budget plans and reviews
- Monthly financial updates
- Prepare and process payments
- Liaise with banks and external stakeholders
- Review invoices, receipts, and disbursement documents
- Monitor consular revenues
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and procedures
- Assess financial data and identify risks (e.g., overspending, liquidity issues)
- Maintain accurate records and archives
2. Logistics and Administrative Support
- Identify and prioritize procurement needs
- Support tendering processes:
- Analyze bids
- Draft reports and orders
- Monitor contracts and service delivery
- Maintain inventories (vehicles, equipment, assets)
- Support building maintenance and safety
- Coordinate with service providers and security firms
3. ICT Focal Point (SPOC)
- Maintain inventory of ICT equipment
- Report ICT needs and system issues
- Support installation of hardware/software
- Liaise with central ICT teams
- Manage communication tools (phones, internet, etc.)
- Monitor communication-related budgets
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- University degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Or equivalent professional experience
Experience
- Minimum 2 years in an accounting or similar role
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
