CORE JOB DESCRIPTION
Telecom Maintenance engineer is responsible for the site Preventative and corrective maintenance, Telecom activities at site as per agreed service level agreement. The person shall also ensure that all activities is carried out in regard to SHEQ compliance and ensure conducive working environment for him or her.
KEY TASKS
- Conduct OTDR testing, splicing and restoration of optical fiber routes
- Maintain fiber route documentation, mapping, and link performance records
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance of field installed items including but not limited to BTS, SDH equipment’s, Cameras, IP Switches etc
- Perform routine maintenance of fiber optic cables including proper core fiber Lebling
- Perform routine, preventive and corrective maintenance of onboard telecom systems, including PIS/PAS and set of Cab radio equipment’s
- Perform routine inspections of sites, systems and equipment in accordance with approved maintenance schedule
- Conduct preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations and contractual requirements
- Attending and resolving escalated faults in a timely manner in accordance with the agreed service level agreement (SLA) response and restoration times
- Complying with all approved safety procedures and regulations when performing any maintenance activities
- Providing advance notification to the Network Management Centre (NMC) prior to accessing and site and reporting upon completion of work
- Submitting regular updates to the NMC on the status of faults under investigation or repair
- Preparing and submitting a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) report for all major or recurrent faults, detailing the cause, corrective actions taken, and recommendations to prevent recurrence
EDUCATION
- Degree in Telecommunication, Communication, Electronics. A candidate must be Registered by ERB as professional Engineer
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- At least Five (5) years of related experience. Experience in railways systems, transport automation, or industrial communication networks is an added advantage
