Job Purpose
The Relationship Manager Institutional Banking will be responsible for growing and retaining a portfolio of Institutional Banking clients in Zanzibar, including:
- Government institutions
- Private institutions
The role focuses on delivering proactive, relationship-driven, and value-adding financial solutions while maintaining strong customer engagement and portfolio performance.
The successful candidate will provide customized banking services tailored to institutional clients’ growth needs across:
- Unguja
- Pemba
Main Responsibilities
1. Relationship Management and Business Growth
The successful candidate will:
- Manage and grow existing Institutional Banking client relationships
- Drive portfolio growth and customer retention
- Develop new business opportunities with:
- Government institutions
- Private institutions
- Support Institutional Banking growth strategies in Zanzibar
Business Development Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and developing profitable institutional client pipelines
- Supporting Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
- Preparing pricing proposals
- Driving acquisition of key institutional projects
- Supporting long-term Institutional Banking penetration strategies
Market Intelligence and Stakeholder Support
The role holder will:
- Monitor market developments and institutional opportunities
- Advise the Senior Manager on ongoing and upcoming projects
- Support the Cluster Manager – Zanzibar on Institutional Banking matters
- Collaborate with internal business units to execute account plans
Cross-Selling and Financial Solutions
Responsibilities include:
- Offering customized financial solutions
- Supporting payment and collection services
- Identifying cross-selling opportunities across banking products
- Managing development of profitable assets and liabilities portfolios
2. Customer Service Quality and Efficiency
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver high-quality customer service
- Support smooth onboarding experiences
- Provide advisory support to institutional clients
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
Client Relationship Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Developing client visit schedules
- Conducting regular client engagement meetings
- Identifying evolving client financial needs
- Supporting efficient processing of:
- Customer mandates
- Financial documentation
- Credit applications
Client Data and Opportunity Analysis
The role holder will:
- Analyze customer data for business expansion opportunities
- Plan additional banking opportunities
- Support customer relationship growth strategies
3. Risk Management and Compliance
The Relationship Manager will maintain strong operational controls and portfolio quality.
Compliance Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Ensure compliance with:
- Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements
- Regulatory guidelines
- Bank policies and procedures
- Conduct Control Self-Assessments
- Maintain operational and risk management standards
Credit and Portfolio Management
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing quality credit applications for CREDCO
- Managing a quality loan and liability portfolio
- Ensuring sustainable portfolio growth
- Working closely with:
- Risk teams
- Credit teams
- Legal teams
- Compliance departments
Ethical Standards and Governance
The role holder will:
