Purpose of the Role

The Business Manager to the Managing Director is a strategic execution and coordination role within the MD’s Office. The role is designed for a commercially minded professional with strong business instincts, operational discipline, executive presence, and the ability to support organizational transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director to drive organizational priorities, improve execution discipline, strengthen operational efficiencies, and support strategic alignment across departments.

This position goes beyond traditional executive support and requires an individual who can operate with urgency, professionalism, and sound judgment in a fast-paced executive environment.

Experience in FMCG, telecommunications, banking, consulting, or similarly dynamic corporate environments will be highly advantageous.


Main Responsibilities

Strategic Business Coordination

The successful candidate will:

  • Support the Managing Director in executing strategic and operational priorities.
  • Monitor progress on key business initiatives across departments.
  • Coordinate cross-functional engagements to improve accountability and execution.
  • Support leadership decision-making through business analysis and executive briefings.
  • Track organizational risks, dependencies, and critical action items.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and simplify processes.
  • Support preparation of:
    • Board materials
    • Executive committee reports
    • Leadership presentations
  • Drive structure, cadence, and follow-through across leadership forums and strategic initiatives.

Transformation & Operational Excellence

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting implementation of transformation initiatives across the organization.
  • Championing digital workflows, productivity tools, and AI-enabled efficiencies.
  • Improving coordination and communication between departments.
  • Supporting a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Assisting with organizational change management initiatives.

Executive Office Management

The role also involves:

  • Ensuring smooth coordination of the Managing Director’s Office.
  • Managing the MD’s strategic calendar and engagements.
  • Coordinating executive meetings, agendas, briefing materials, and follow-up actions.
  • Handling confidential communication and sensitive business matters professionally.
  • Coordinating executive travel and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintaining effective communication flow between the MD’s Office and internal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Business Administration
    • Finance
    • Economics
    • Management
    • Engineering
    • Or a related field
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in:
    • Business management
    • Strategy execution
    • Operations
    • Commercial leadership support
    • Consulting
    • Transformation-focused roles
  • Experience in FMCG, banking, telecommunications, consulting, or multinational organizations is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working directly with senior executives or leadership teams is strongly preferred.
