Role Objective
The Technician 1, Database will provide:
- First-line technical support
- Geological database management support
- Data validation and reporting support
The role ensures:
- Accurate geological data capture
- Data integrity and security
- Compliance with AngloGold Ashanti standards
- Reliable mineral resource estimation support
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Validation
- Validate geological data from:
- Exploration teams
- Grade Control teams
- Geotechnical teams
- Reject invalid datasets and coordinate corrections
- Conduct:
- Weekly database audits
- Monthly database audits
- Produce discrepancy and corrective-action reports
Assay & QA/QC Management
- Verify and reconcile assay submissions
- Import verified assay results
- Maintain:
- Reconciliation logs
- QA/QC reviews
Systems Administration
- Administer geological database systems including:
- Fusion
- Datamine
- Support:
- Software installation
- Upgrades
- Backups
- Version control
- Data locking
Technical Support & Documentation
- Coordinate with IT teams and vendors
- Train and support end-users
- Maintain:
- SOPs
- Database guidelines
- Documentation
- Participate in database improvement initiatives
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure SOX-aligned authorization controls
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Follow HSE standards and procedures
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Applicants must have:
- CSEE certificate
- Diploma in:
- Geology
- ICT
- Certification in:
- Database Management
- Data Science
- Geoinformatics
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in:
- Geological database management
- Mining industry database operations
- Experience using:
- Fusion
- Datamine
- Similar geological database software
- Experience with:
- Data validation
- QA/QC
- SOX compliance
Added Advantage
- Experience training or coaching users on database systems
