Bid information
The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, through the Artemis project, is seeking to strengthen team effectiveness, collaboration, and performance within its multidisciplinary Artemis/Tatu team.
Following a series of foundational team development workshops conducted in 2025, the Alliance intends to engage a consultant to design and implement a structured “Team Grounding” programme.
The programme will reinforce prior learning, support ongoing team dynamics, and embed sustainable practices that enhance:
- Collaboration
- Leadership
- Team integration
- Scientific work
- Overall team performance
Objectives of the consultancy
The consultancy aims to strengthen team effectiveness, collaboration, and performance within the Artemis/Tatu team by building on prior team development work and embedding sustainable team practices.
Specifically, the consultancy will seek to:
- Consolidate and deepen team capabilities in areas including work styles, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Translate team development concepts into practical, ongoing applications that directly support project delivery and scientific collaboration.
- Strengthen leadership capacity within the team to sustain team development practices beyond the consultancy period.
- Improve integration between team dynamics and scientific work, enhancing productivity, decision-making, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Establish continuous learning and reflection mechanisms that support adaptation as the team evolves in 2026 and beyond.
Scope of work
The consultant will design and implement a structured Team Grounding programme that combines in-person workshops and virtual sessions.
Key activities will include:
- Designing and facilitating team workshops, including:
- An initial multi-day workshop
- A closing workshop focused on reflection and planning
- Delivering periodic online sessions of approximately 1.5 hours each to:
- Reinforce learning
- Address emerging challenges
- Maintain team alignment
- Developing and implementing thematic modules, including:
- Strengths integration and practical application
- Communication enhancement and feedback practices
- Conflict resolution using real team scenarios
- Collaboration and workflow alignment across teams
- Creating practical tools and frameworks, such as:
- A team strengths playbook
- Communication protocols
- Collaboration guidelines
- Supporting leadership development through:
- Facilitation sessions
- Coaching sessions for team leaders and emerging leaders
- Integrating team development into scientific workflows to ensure alignment with project goals and improve team effectiveness in research delivery.
- Establishing ongoing reflection and feedback mechanisms, including:
- Structured check-ins
- Adaptive session design based on team needs
Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to deliver the following:
- An inception plan outlining the detailed approach, session structure, and annual engagement plan
- Facilitated team workshops, including materials and session summaries
- A series of facilitated online team sessions with defined themes and documented outcomes
- A Team Strengths Playbook and supporting tools for applying team strengths in practice
- Practical frameworks and guidelines for communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution
- Leadership development sessions and/or coaching support for selected team members
- A final report summarizing:
- Activities conducted
- Key insights
- Progress against objectives
- Recommendations for sustaining team development
Contract period
The contract period is expected to run from approximately April 2026 to December 2026.
Budget
The available budget is TZS 9,500,000, exclusive of VAT.
Payment will be made in three slots upon completion of each milestone.
Key milestones
The programme will follow a structured cadence combining in-person workshops and ongoing virtual engagement to ensure continuous reinforcement and practical application of learning.
June 2026
- Initial team workshop lasting 2 to 3 days
- Programme launch
June to November 2026
- Periodic online sessions, approximately monthly or at defined intervals
- Sessions will focus on key thematic areas
December 2026
- Final team workshop lasting 1 to 1.5 days
- Focus areas will include:
- Reflection
- Consolidation of learning
- Planning for 2027

Award criteria
Award of the contract will be based on fulfilment of the qualification criteria.
Anti-bribery and corruption
All bidders are required to comply fully with the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Act.
Exclusion criteria
Any bidder is required to confirm in writing that:
- Neither it nor any related company to which it regularly subcontracts is insolvent or being wound up.
- Neither it nor any related company to which it regularly subcontracts is having its affairs administered by the courts.
- Neither it nor any related company to which it regularly subcontracts has entered into an arrangement with creditors.
- Neither it nor any related company to which it regularly subcontracts has suspended business activities.
- Neither it nor any related company to which it regularly subcontracts is the subject of proceedings concerning such matters, or is in any analogous situation arising from a similar procedure provided for in national legislation or regulations.
- Neither it nor any company to which it regularly subcontracts has been convicted of:
- Fraud
- Corruption
- Involvement in a criminal organization
- Any money laundering offence
- Any offence concerning professional conduct
- Breaches of applicable labour law
- Breaches of labour tax legislation
- Any other illegal activity by a judgment in any national or international court of law
- Neither it nor any company to which it regularly subcontracts has failed to comply with obligations relating to:
- Payment of social security contributions
- Payment of taxes in accordance with the legal provisions of the relevant country in which the bidder operates
- The bidder has not been barred from participating in any tender by any of the CGIAR organizations.
Any bidder will automatically be excluded or disqualified from the award if it is found that they are guilty of misrepresentation in supplying the required information within their tender bid, or if they fail to supply the required information.
Conflict of interest and non-collusion
Any bidder is required to confirm in writing:
- That it is not aware of any connection between itself, its directors, or senior managers and the directors and staff of CIAT that may affect the outcome of the selection process.
- If such connections exist, the bidder is required to disclose them.
- That it has not communicated to anyone other than CIAT the amount or approximate amount of the award.
- That it has not offered, paid, or given any sum of money, commission, gift, inducement, or other financial benefit, directly or indirectly, to any person for doing or omitting to do any act in relation to the tender process.
CIAT reserves the right to accept or reject any bid, annul the tendering process, and reject all tenders at any time prior to contract award without incurring any liability to the affected tenderer or tenderers, or any obligation to inform the affected tenderer or tenderers of the grounds for the procuring entity’s action.
