Position: Officer – Maintenance

Who They Are Looking For

The ideal candidate should be:

  • Experienced in facilities management, maintenance, construction, project supervision, and property management.
  • Capable of leading a team of more than 6 technicians.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple maintenance projects independently.
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance and facilities upkeep systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong inspection, reporting, and compliance skills.
  • A strong leader able to improve policies, procedures, and project execution.
  • Experienced in institutional, school, or NGO environments.
  • Familiar with sustainability and energy efficiency principles in buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise maintenance technicians across campuses.
  • Oversee the maintenance ticket system.
  • Coordinate maintenance of:
    • Buildings
    • Infrastructure
    • Equipment
    • Furniture and fittings
    • Roads and pavements
    • Landscaping
  • Attend to emergency repairs and maintenance issues promptly.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and repairs.
  • Supervise contractors, fundis, and third-party service providers.
  • Ensure maintenance work areas are safe and properly managed.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Manage maintenance tools, equipment, assets, and key records.
  • Promote workplace safety and proper use of safety gear.
  • Monitor workloads and ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Supervise casual labourers during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain proper records for maintenance activities and asset allocation.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Property and Facilities Management from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in:
    • Facilities management
    • Project management
    • Property management
    • Related fields
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Safety standards
    • Compliance requirements
    • Project execution practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of facilities management or maintenance software is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide expert technical advice.
