Position Overview

The VIE Business Developer plays a strategic role within the sales organization by analyzing market data, identifying business opportunities, and supporting business growth initiatives across the Tanzania Cluster.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, customers, government authorities, and other stakeholders to develop new business opportunities, improve market share, and support commercial activities throughout the cluster.


Key Responsibilities

Market & Business Analysis

  • Conduct market analysis to determine market size and CMA CGM market share.
  • Analyze customer business operations to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling CMA CGM products and services.
  • Carry out competitor analysis and provide market intelligence to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and evaluate overall Tanzania Cluster performance across agencies.

Business Development

  • Perform market studies to identify new business opportunities and generate new business within the cluster.
  • Develop and implement business development projects, particularly inland logistics projects.
  • Prepare comprehensive business plans for new initiatives.
  • Work closely with local authorities to follow up on approvals related to business development projects.
  • Promote non-maritime products and support services, including:
    • E-commerce solutions
    • Value-Added Services (VAS)
    • Intermodal solutions
    • CEVA Logistics services

Reefer & Product Development

  • Collaborate with the Reefer Sales Manager to expand the reefer business portfolio in the Tanzania Cluster.
  • Implement strategies aimed at product diversification.
  • Stay informed about regional and global developments in reefer and perishable cargo markets.

Commercial Support & Reporting

  • Participate in agency commercial meetings and share performance updates and market intelligence.
  • Prepare periodic performance reports for:
    • Sales Teams
    • Local Management
    • Area Regional Office (ARO)
    • Head Office (HO)
  • Coordinate communication between Head Office, Regional Offices, shipping lines, and agencies.
  • Support the Commercial Manager and Sales Representatives by prioritizing and communicating shipping line instructions.
  • Assist the Sales Manager in coordinating sales activities.
  • Provide business development support to the Tanzania Cluster General Manager.

Marketing & Representation

  • Organize and attend promotional events showcasing CMA CGM products and services.
  • Promote both maritime and non-maritime solutions across target markets.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

Eligibility Requirements

According to Article L122-1 of the National Service Code, this VIE mission is open only to:

  • Candidates aged between 18 and 28 years.
  • European Union nationals.

Academic Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a business-related field.

Technical Skills

  • Strong data analysis and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Understanding of global and regional maritime trade developments.
  • Knowledge of reefer and perishable cargo business environments.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Microsoft Project
    • Project and time management software applications
