Senior Java Developer – Fintech Payment Infrastructure

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to design, build, and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable payment processing systems. You will play a critical role in shaping our financial infrastructure and delivering reliable solutions for high-volume transactions and financial services.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex backend and systems challenges, values clean architecture, and is interested in contributing beyond application development.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

Build low-latency, high-availability applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Develop secure and scalable backend services for payment processing.
Design and maintain RESTful APIs and financial services platforms.

Financial Systems Development

Design and develop services for:
- Payment gateways
- Transaction ledgers
- Financial reconciliation systems
Ensure systems support high transaction volumes with reliability and efficiency.

Distributed Systems & Architecture

Design and maintain distributed systems and microservice architectures.
Develop scalable and fault-tolerant solutions for financial operations.
Implement asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.

Code Quality & Security

Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
Ensure compliance with financial industry security standards.
Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Performance & Reliability

Troubleshoot production issues and system failures.
Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
Improve system monitoring, observability, and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Leadership

Collaborate with product, operations, and leadership teams.
Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers.
Promote engineering excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of hands-on software development experience with Java.
Strong expertise in:
- Spring Boot
- Spring Security
- Spring Data
- RESTful API development
Experience designing and maintaining distributed systems and microservices.
Experience in:
- Fintech
- Banking
- Payments
- Other high-availability transactional environments
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, database design, and query optimization.
Experience with asynchronous processing and event-driven systems.
Strong understanding of:
- Software engineering best practices
- Security principles
- Automated testing
- System reliability

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with messaging platforms such as:
- RabbitMQ
- Kafka
- Other messaging systems
Experience with Golang.
Familiarity with:
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- AWS
- Cloud-native infrastructure
Experience with observability and monitoring tools.
Exposure to:
- Payment systems
- Financial ledgers
- Reconciliation platforms
- Financial reporting systems
Experience integrating with:
- Banks
- Telecom operators
- Mobile money platforms
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Interest or experience in:
- AI tools
- Automation workflows
- Large Language Models (LLMs)

Compensation & Benefits
