Job Summary

The School of St Jude is seeking a passionate and experienced Career Guidance Counsellor to support students in making informed academic and career choices.

The successful candidate will implement the school’s Career Guidance Programme, facilitate career development activities, mentor students, coordinate career-related events, and help equip young women with the skills and knowledge needed for future success.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Implement the Career Guidance curriculum for Form 2, Form 3, and Form 4 students.
  • Facilitate engaging career guidance lessons and learning activities.
  • Coordinate annual:
    • Career surveys
    • Career workshops
    • Career fairs
    • Holiday Skills Development Programme
  • Deliver typing classes and emotional intelligence sessions tailored to students’ needs and abilities.
  • Lead and supervise student club activities.
  • Ensure proper reporting and adherence to procedures for club leaders and members.
  • Collaborate closely with the Careers Team and academic staff to mentor students.
  • Provide career guidance and support to students, particularly those at risk of making poor academic or career decisions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be:

  • An experienced paid Career Guidance Counsellor or Career Guidance Officer.
  • Passionate about helping young women discover their academic and career pathways.
  • A strong communicator capable of engaging students with diverse learning needs.
  • Creative and adaptable in designing and delivering career guidance lessons and workshops.
  • Dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of Tanzanian youth.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Minimum 2 years of paid professional experience in:
    • Career Guidance
    • Career Counselling
    • Student Development
    • Or a similar role within a school or educational institution.
