Tabono Consult Limited is seeking a hands-on Assistant Technical Supervisor to oversee and support the implementation of specialized agricultural infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that cultivation sites—particularly protected cropping environments and irrigation systems—are established and maintained to high technical standards. The role focuses on greenhouse construction, irrigation system installation, and technical support for large-scale vegetable and crop production.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Technical Supervisor will:

• Supervise and participate in the complete assembly of greenhouse structures, including:
  • Frame installation
  • Greenhouse covering
  • Ventilation system setup
• Ensure greenhouse structures are constructed according to technical specifications and are suitable for Iringa’s weather conditions.
• Conduct routine inspections and carry out repairs to maintain greenhouse structural integrity.
• Lead the installation of irrigation systems, including:
  • Drip irrigation
  • Overhead irrigation
  • Fertigation lines
• Monitor water distribution systems to ensure efficient irrigation.
• Diagnose and resolve blockages and mechanical issues affecting irrigation systems.
• Oversee maintenance of pumps, filters, and valves to minimize operational downtime.
• Support the Technical Supervisor in planning site layouts and allocating resources for new projects.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and storage of technical tools and machinery.
• Provide technical troubleshooting for on-site equipment and agricultural infrastructure.

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• Proven experience in agricultural technical work, particularly:
  • Greenhouse assembly
  • Irrigation plumbing and installation
• Strong understanding of:
  • Structural mechanics
  • Agricultural hydraulic systems
• Willingness to live in or relocate to Iringa.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor farm environment.
• Ability to supervise a small team and ensure projects are completed within deadlines.
