Position Summary

The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating the packaging process efficiently to ensure consistent product quality, maximize production throughput, and minimize waste while maintaining safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging processes in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform machine start-up, shutdown, and routine operation.
  • Manage production waste during packaging operations.
  • Conduct brand and packaging changeovers.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Perform in-depth equipment cleaning and first-level maintenance.
  • Monitor packaging process performance and production efficiency.
  • Conduct routine quality checks to ensure products meet company standards.
  • Monitor production inputs and process controls.
  • Take corrective action when operational or quality issues arise.
  • Participate actively in team activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and process improvement efforts.
  • Support commercial decision-making within the packaging operation, including operational, financial, and people-related activities.
  • Demonstrate a disciplined work ethic with a strong commitment to product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and labour legislation.
  • Execute VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) routines and continuous improvement practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • A valid Mechanical or Electrical Trade Test Certificate.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Experience working in a packaging or manufacturing process environment.
