Position Summary
The Artisan is responsible for operating the assigned process area according to established work instructions, performing non-destructive quality inspections, and carrying out routine maintenance activities. The role primarily focuses on asset care to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Process Operation and Control
- Operate production equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Perform quality inspections and checks as specified in quality control procedures.
- Record production waste and analyze trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor process performance against production targets.
- Complete short interval control documentation accurately.
- Respond promptly to production stoppages and operational issues.
- Apply approved problem-solving techniques to resolve process-related challenges.
- Maintain good housekeeping by following 5S principles and safe working practices.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions while supporting team members when required.
Plant and Equipment Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and machine inspections according to maintenance schedules.
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities as planned.
- Escalate major maintenance issues that cannot be resolved independently.
- Participate in maintenance shutdowns, cleaning days, and maintenance post-mortem reviews.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring maintenance issues.
- Work closely with maintenance specialists and support teams to implement corrective actions.
Quality Control
- Conduct non-destructive quality checks during production.
- Record inspection results using relevant documentation or information systems.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues where possible.
- Escalate unresolved quality concerns to the Team Leader.
Communication
- Participate actively in shift meetings.
- Record operational issues and improvement opportunities using the team gap list.
- Understand team objectives and contribute during performance review sessions.
- Use communication tools such as shift logbooks to ensure effective information sharing.
Problem Solving
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify and eliminate production issues.
- Verify that corrective actions have effectively resolved identified problems.
- Use control charts, trend analysis, Pareto charts, and short-stop analysis to identify process improvements.
- Document improvement opportunities and collaborate with team members and specialists to implement solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- A valid Mechanical or Electrical Trade Test Certificate.
