Role Purpose

The Agribusiness Advisor will support the implementation of Equity Group Foundation’s Food and Agriculture projects by recruiting, training, and supporting project beneficiaries across Tanzania.

The role will focus on strengthening agricultural value chains, supporting farmers and Agriculture Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Ag-MSMEs), promoting financial inclusion, and connecting beneficiaries with relevant financial products and market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Farmer Mobilization & Project Implementation

  • Identify, mobilize, and conduct awareness forums for target participants, partners, and value chain actors including:
    • Smallholder farmers
    • MSMEs
    • Youth and women groups
  • Enroll targeted beneficiaries into projects and Bank programs according to set targets and timelines.
  • Organize and coordinate farmer groups through regular mentorship, coaching, and monitoring activities.
  • Implement project activities according to approved work plans and targets.

Training & Capacity Building

  • Train beneficiaries on:
    • Financial education
    • Agribusiness development
    • Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
    • Climate-smart agriculture
    • Biodiversity conservation and environmental protection
    • Use of agricultural technologies and mechanization
  • Support farmers and value chain actors to improve:
    • Productivity
    • Technical skills
    • Financial management
    • Entrepreneurship capacity
  • Develop and deliver training materials, facilitator guides, and participant resources.

Financial Inclusion & Market Linkages

  • Introduce farmers and Ag-MSMEs to Equity Bank products and services based on their financial needs.
  • Support beneficiaries in accessing and effectively using financial solutions.
  • Develop quality pipelines for agricultural loans and savings products.
  • Facilitate market linkages between farmers, cooperatives, MSMEs, and value chain partners.

Reporting, Data Management & Monitoring

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly implementation reports.
  • Collect accurate project data in collaboration with Monitoring & Evaluation teams.
  • Provide analytical reports to support program monitoring and decision-making.
  • Maintain records including:
    • Training attendance
    • Coaching reports
    • Success stories
    • Case studies
    • Participant assessments

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Equity Group Foundation with:
    • Farmers
    • Cooperatives
    • Development partners
    • Government institutions
    • Local ecosystem players
  • Coordinate field activities including:
    • Field days
    • Exchange visits
    • Value chain meetings

Financial

  • Deliver agreed program outreach and customer acquisition targets.
  • Support growth of agribusiness loan and savings portfolios.
  • Develop quality pipelines of farmers and Ag-MSMEs.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of program resources and budgets.

Customers/Clients

Experience Requirements

Officer Level

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.

Senior Officer Level

  • More than 5 years’ experience.

Required Experience

Candidates should have experience in:

  • Agricultural production and marketing.
  • Agribusiness development.
  • Farmer training and extension services.
  • Cooperative strengthening.
  • Agricultural value chain development.
  • Supporting smallholder farmers, youth, women enterprises, and rural communities.
  • Designing and delivering practical training programs.
  • Financial literacy and access-to-finance facilitation.
  • Market linkage development.
  • Sustainable agriculture and climate-smart agriculture practices.
  • Agricultural project implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

Experience in donor-funded agriculture, livelihood, enterprise development, or inclusive finance programs will be an added advantage.

Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
    • Agriculture
    • Agribusiness Management
    • Agricultural Economics
    • Animal Production/Health
    • Range Management
    • Agroforestry
    • Agricultural Extension
    • Horticulture
    • Related agricultural fields

Alternative Qualification:

  • Business or Finance degree with proven exposure to agricultural program implementation.
