About the Programme
Kilimo Trust (KT) is co-implementing the Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries through Inclusive Market Access (WYEEFIMA) programme.
The programme is led by the Africa Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat and TradeMark Africa and funded by the Mastercard Foundation.
WYEEFIMA aims to economically empower women and youth aged 18–35 by improving their participation in cross-border fish trade.
Kilimo Trust is recruiting Village-Based Advisors (VBAs)/Trainer of Trainers (TOTs) to support programme implementation within assigned local communities in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
The Village-Based Advisor/Trainer of Trainers will:
- Act as the primary link between the programme and communities in assigned areas.
- Mobilize and enrol women, youth, men, associations, and MSMEs using the ODK digital data-collection platform.
- Conduct last-mile training in fish post-harvest handling, food processing, and value addition.
- Track the volume and value of fish and fish products traded across borders.
- Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities.
- Submit success stories and timely field activity reports.
- Participate in the distribution of co-financed start-up kits and monitor enterprise development.
- Work closely with associations, local leaders, and district fisheries officers.
- Participate in trainings, workshops, stakeholder meetings, and field activities.
- Attend mandatory weekly coordination calls.
- Maintain regular communication with Resident Associates and provide community feedback.
- Conduct pre-training and post-training assessments and submit results through ODK/KOBO.
- Ensure compliance with Kilimo Trust procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should have:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in:
- Fisheries
- Aquaculture
- Agriculture
- Agribusiness
- Food Science and Technology
- Or a related field
- At least 1 year of experience in food processing, fish inspection, farmer training, data collection, community development, or field-based project implementation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in local languages spoken in the deployment area is an added advantage.
- Must reside in the district or region where the position is based.
- Qualified female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Applicants must originate from and reside in the specified location. Preference will be given to candidates from the listed villages or districts within the respective regions.
Contract Duration
The assignment will run for six months and may be renewed based on satisfactory performance.
Reporting
The successful candidate will report directly to the Program Assistant.
