Job Overview

Definite Solutions, on behalf of its client, a microfinance company based in Dar es Salaam, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Loan Officer (Sales) to join the client’s team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding the loan portfolio, achieving business targets, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow the loan portfolio in line with company targets.
• Achieve monthly and quarterly targets for customer acquisition and loan disbursements.
• Conduct initial client assessments and pre-screening to determine eligibility and compliance with lending criteria.
• Represent the company during product awareness sessions to increase product visibility.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
• Follow up on loan repayments, renewals where applicable, and customer feedback.
• Process loan applications and supporting documentation in accordance with the company’s credit policies.
• Maintain accurate client records and financial transaction information.
• Conduct periodic reconciliations to support accurate reporting and an effective filing system.
• Prepare accurate and timely daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Build and maintain a high-quality loan portfolio while minimizing default rates.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• A Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Microfinance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of recent experience in a sales role.
• A proven track record in:
  • Customer acquisition
  • Loan portfolio growth
  • Achieving sales and business targets

Skills and Competencies

• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Awareness and sensitivity to operational risks.
• Self-motivated and decisive.
• High level of integrity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• High level of professionalism.
• Strong customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Familiarity with microfinance operations and credit analysis.
