Job Overview

Access Bank Tanzania is seeking a Relationship Manager – Chinese Desk to develop and manage relationships with Chinese corporates, business owners, investors and other strategic clients operating in Tanzania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for business development, customer acquisition, portfolio growth, cross-selling banking products, client relationship management and ensuring compliance with banking and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with Chinese corporates, business owners, investors and strategic clients.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Chinese business community.
• Acquire new customers and deepen existing relationships.
• Grow assets, deposits, trade finance, foreign exchange, payments and other banking products.
• Understand clients’ business models, financial needs, investment plans and industry dynamics.
• Serve as the primary relationship contact for assigned Chinese clients.
• Develop and execute client acquisition and portfolio growth strategies.
• Collaborate with Credit, Trade Finance, Treasury, Operations, Risk, Compliance and other teams to deliver client solutions.
• Support client onboarding while ensuring compliance with KYC, AML, credit and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks.
• Maintain accurate client records, call reports, financial information and relationship documentation.
• Conduct regular client visits and business reviews.
• Represent the Bank at business forums and networking events involving the Chinese business community.
• Build networks with Chinese business associations, investors, corporates and other stakeholders.
• Work with product and sales teams to generate leads and maximise business opportunities.
• Maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of the Tanzanian banking environment, regulatory requirements and sectors in which Chinese businesses operate.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Finance
  • Banking
  • Economics
  • Business Administration
  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Or a related field.
• Professional banking or finance certification is an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in:
  • Corporate Banking
  • Commercial Banking
  • Relationship Management
  • Business Banking
  • Or a related banking environment.
• Experience managing Chinese corporate clients or working with Chinese businesses/investors is a strong advantage.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of the Tanzanian business and banking environment.
• Strong relationship management and business development skills.
• Ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
• Mandarin/Chinese language proficiency is highly advantageous, particularly for candidates working directly with Chinese-speaking clients.
