About One Acre Fund
One Acre Fund is an agricultural organization founded in 2006 that supports smallholder farmers by providing farm supplies, tree seedlings, agricultural training, credit, and other agricultural services.
The organization currently supports 5.5 million smallholder farmers across nine African countries and employs more than 9,000 full-time staff.
In Tanzania, One Acre Fund was established in 2013 and supports more than 100,000 farmers with farm supplies and fruit trees. Its Tanzania headquarters is in Iringa, with additional offices in Mbeya, Njombe, and Moshi.
About the Position
One Acre Fund is looking for an operational leader with at least 2 years of relevant experience to lead tree marketing, farmer enrollment, seedling distribution, and field operations in Tanzania.
The successful candidate will manage up to 7 Tree Supervisors, coordinate with government and other stakeholders, and help scale the organization’s tree program.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Marketing, Sales & Distribution Strategy
- Lead annual marketing and farmer enrollment activities.
- Develop and implement seedling distribution strategies.
- Drive product adoption, sales, and farmer participation across assigned districts.
2. Field Execution & Operational Leadership
- Oversee field operations across approximately 100–150 sites.
- Manage species selection and seedling distribution pipelines.
- Track post-distribution seedling survival rates.
- Ensure program impact and sustainability targets are achieved.
3. Team Management & Capacity Building
- Directly manage and mentor 6–10 Tree Supervisors.
- Set clear performance targets.
- Train staff in agroforestry practices, behavioral change techniques, and customer service.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular support.
4. Farmer Training & Community Engagement
- Develop farmer training materials.
- Train farmers on tree management and agroforestry techniques.
- Promote proper long-term care of seedlings.
- Improve post-distribution seedling survival rates.
5. Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with local government authorities.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
- Maintain alignment between the tree program and broader organizational activities.
- Improve operational coordination and integration.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should have:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in field operations, program marketing, product adoption, sales, or community behavioral change initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of agroforestry, tree management, seedling distribution, or agricultural extension.
- Experience leading and mentoring field-based teams, such as supervisors or extension workers.
- A degree or equivalent training in:
- Agroforestry
- Agriculture
- Marketing
- Business Administration
- Development Studies
- Or another related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong training and community engagement abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with rural farming communities and government stakeholders.
