New Vacancies at Farm of Dreams Lodge – Karatu, Arusha
Farm of Dreams Lodge, located in Karatu, Arusha, is seeking responsible and experienced candidates to fill the following positions.
1. Chef de Partie – 1 Post
Reporting to: Head Chef
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes according to the lodge’s menus, recipes, and quality standards.
- Take responsibility for an assigned kitchen section and ensure it operates efficiently.
- Maintain consistently high standards of food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards.
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with menu preparation, daily production, and special functions.
- Ensure proper portion control and minimise food wastage.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Ensure food is properly stored, labelled, and handled.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Prepare meals according to guests’ dietary requirements and special requests.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults.
- Assist with receiving and checking food supplies.
- Ensure the assigned section is prepared before service and cleaned after service.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Head Chef or management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie, Line Cook, or similar position in a hotel or lodge.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional kitchen experience, preferably in an established hotel or lodge.
- Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Knowledge of local and international cuisine is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, sanitation, and food safety.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet service deadlines.
- Good teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Culinary training or professional certification is an advantage.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
- Must be disciplined, hardworking, reliable, and committed to high food and service standards.
2. Maintenance Officer – 1 Post
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily lodge inspections to ensure safety standards are maintained.
- Supervise maintenance activities.
- Identify ways to reduce maintenance costs.
- Communicate maintenance issues to the Operations Manager.
- Arrange routine maintenance for lodge rooms, kitchen, offices, and other facilities.
- Ensure company equipment and property, including generators, laundry machines, and water pumps, remain in good working condition.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
- Monitor maintenance supplies and tools inventory.
- Monitor and maintain swimming pools.
- Maintain maintenance records and logs.
- Prepare and submit daily maintenance reports to management.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance activities.
- Certificate or Diploma in Maintenance from VETA or another recognised college.
- Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hotel or lodge.
- Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Good knowledge of machines and equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and plumbing is required.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Age: 27–40 years.
3. Waiter/Waitress – 1 Post
Reporting to: Restaurant Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tables with linens, silverware, glasses, and other required items.
- Maintain neat professional appearance and wear the required identification badge.
- Welcome guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
- Present menus and provide information about portions, ingredients, and potential allergens.
- Inform guests about daily specials.
- Recommend menu items when requested.
- Upsell additional products where appropriate.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders.
- Ensure compliance with minimum-age requirements for alcoholic beverages.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely orders.
- Serve food and beverages.
- Clear used plates, glasses, and cutlery.
- Present bills and collect payments.
- Follow applicable health and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education & Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Hotel Management.
- Bar and barista skills are an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with cash registers and ordering systems.
- Good customer service skills, attentiveness, and patience.
- Age: 27–40 years.
- High level of personal hygiene.
- Excellent personal presentation.
