Bellwether Consultants is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Accountant on behalf of its esteemed client, a fast-growing manufacturing company based in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a growing industrial enterprise.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at the company’s manufacturing facility in Bagamoyo.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining and updating accurate books of accounts, including:
  • General Ledger
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable
• Preparing:
  • Monthly financial statements
  • Quarterly financial statements
  • Annual financial statements
  • Management reports
• Monitoring and reconciling:
  • Bank statements
  • Petty cash accounts
  • Other financial records
• Ensuring timely preparation and submission of statutory returns, including:
  • VAT
  • PAYE
  • SDL
  • Corporate Tax
  • NSSF
  • WCF
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Monitoring and analyzing budget variances.
• Coordinating annual audits with external auditors and implementing audit recommendations.
• Managing inventory costing and collaborating with the production team to ensure accurate cost accounting.
• Ensuring compliance with:
  • Internal financial controls
  • Company policies
  • Financial procedures
• Performing any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should possess:

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Or a related field from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications

• CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting certification will be an added advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in the manufacturing industry is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

• Sound knowledge of:
  • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Tanzania tax regulations
• Proficiency in:
  • Odoo
  • Sage
  • Other ERP systems
  • Microsoft Office Suite
