Job Purpose

The Analyst; Card Finance will support card business operations, financial reporting, performance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business insights to support strategic decision-making and sustainable profitability of the Bank’s card business.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze card revenues, network fees, interchange income, and card-related expenses to support profitability management.
• Assess profitability across different products, customer segments, and business lines.
• Support the preparation and evaluation of business cases for new card products and enhancements.
• Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities across card business operations.
• Monitor internal accounts to track targeted card income and identify abnormal losses or expenses.
• Maintain appropriate controls to protect the Bank against revenue leakage and operational losses.
• Extract, validate, analyze, and interpret card business data.
• Conduct data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and business opportunities.
• Develop insights and recommendations based on card portfolio performance.
• Review vendor and card-scheme invoices and initiate payment processing.
• Validate card-scheme fees, charges, and invoices.
• Prepare financial and operational reports.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial and operational information.

Knowledge & Skills

Candidates should have:

• Good understanding of banking operations, card schemes, card products, and financial analysis.
• Familiarity with banking systems, card management systems, and databases.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to card and payment businesses.
• Knowledge of debit, credit, prepaid, and virtual card products.
• Understanding of card transaction lifecycles, settlement, chargebacks, disputes, and card-scheme operations.
• Advanced proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • SQL
  • Reconciliation tools
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• Ability to extract, manipulate, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
• Ability to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, risks, and business opportunities.
• Strong report-writing and presentation skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in:
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Banking
  • Business Administration
  • Economics
  • Computer Science
  • or a related field.
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of banking experience, preferably in:
  • Card Business
  • Finance
  • Reconciliation
  • Financial Analysis
• Experience using SQL for data extraction, reporting, reconciliation, and analysis is preferred.
