Job Summary

KCB Bank Tanzania is seeking an Application Developer to support the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of banking applications. The role focuses on Java and Spring Boot backend development, secure coding, digital banking technologies, application lifecycle management, and collaboration with business and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to application development objectives within the overall IT strategy.
Analyse business and product requirements and develop scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
Collaborate with business teams to develop technology solutions for banking products.
Work with QA testers, product analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver application features.
Manage the application development lifecycle in accordance with IT policies.
Support banking operations teams in resolving core banking application issues.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical problems.
Implement proactive fixes and application improvements.
Maintain secure coding standards and compliance with banking regulations.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Evaluate requests for new applications and modifications to existing systems.
Support successful project closure, user engagement, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
Develop Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) with Level 1 support teams.
Identify innovative technology solutions that create business opportunities and mitigate risks.
Influence product design and improve process efficiency.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field.
Professional qualifications/certifications in:
- Java
- Oracle
- Enterprise Architecture
- ITIL

Added Advantage:

Master’s degree in a computer-related field or Project Management.

Experience Requirements

Applicants must have at least 5 years of total work experience, including:

3+ years in emerging technologies such as mobile banking, internet banking, digital loans, or digital savings — essential.
3+ years in banking operations — essential.
3+ years in IT projects — desirable.
3+ years in quality assurance — desirable.
