Job Summary

The Applications Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring service availability, reliability, uptime, and maintenance as per the service level agreement. This role involves providing technical support and guidance for the Core Banking application, delivery channel systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), and other third-party application systems.

Reports to: Head of IT & Operations

Essential Duties

• Provide advice, technical support, and monitor the performance of the Core banking system and other critical systems (delivery channels and Digital systems).

• Support payment systems (KENEX, TIPS, and TISS), RTSIS, HR MIS systems, and other third-party systems.

• Assist the Head of Department in preparing the annual budget, IT operation plan, and tracking all IT-related policies, IT registers, reports, and procedures to ensure compliance and regulatory standards.

• Ensure business continuity by maintaining the Disaster Recovery site and ensuring it is operational as per the Disaster Recovery Plan procedure.

• Ensure internal and external IT audit findings are addressed within assigned deadlines.

• Track user service and incident requests and oversee prompt resolution via the helpdesk system.

• Provide support for End of Day/Month/Year processing and handle issues within the Core Banking System.

• Manage the deployment and testing of new enhancements, changes, or patches in staging and production environments as per the change management process.

• Ensure compliance with SLAs with all application system vendors.

• Ensure all application system database backups and replication processes are implemented and executed.

• Manage business requirements, UATs, and deployment plans in adherence to established business and change management processes.

• Maintain adequate Information Security coverage for all application systems.

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure all application system projects are formally managed.

Qualifications & Experience

• University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field.

• Microsoft or related professional certification is ideal.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an information systems position within a reputable financial services organization or related institution.

• 3+ years of experience within a technical support environment, including core banking applications, digital/delivery channel systems implementation, database administration, and third-party applications.
